The major flaw in the City's discarded ELRT plan for Barrhaven & Riverside South:
1. Because economies had to be found in order to extend the line from Woodroffe Ave. to Barrhaven Marketplace, it was decided to have only a single track from Leitrim Road, through Riverside South, to Greenbank Road in Barrhaven.
2. This meant that a service frequency of ten minutes was the best that could be offered, in Riverside South and Barrhaven.
3. That equals six trains per hour, maximum.
4. The City was only going to buy enough vehicles to run single car trains.
5. Each train would have a capacity of 200 people, but would have only about 66 seats per train. The rest would be standees.
6. The ridership study showed only about 430 people per peak hour taking the train from all three Barrhaven stations combined, in the morning inbound direction.
7. Even that small number, when spread over the six trains per hour from Barrhaven, would mean that ALL THE SEATS WOULD BE OCCUPIED, WITH SOME PEOPLE STANDING, BEFORE THE TRAIN CROSSED THE STRANDHERD BRIDGE INTO RIVERSIDE SOUTH.
8. Everyone getting on an inbound train in Riverside South during the morning peak, would have to stand all the way to at least Carleton University, and maybe farther into downtown.
9. The City chose the wrong route, and the wrong type of rail vehicle, for getting Barrhaven residents into town!

yep
Yes you are right buddy an alternative may be to run every second train from Barrhaven 640-802 to go through the downtown to 3 stops in Riverside South, and they all start another train and execution of Riverside N10-004 south of the city.
The change of a frequency of 10 minutes every 15 minutes in Riverside South would be offset by increasing
70-290 in this area. In the future, when necessary, the entire line could be bent. About the same time an extension of this line to Cedarview Road (and / or 416) could be considered.

An alternative may be to run every second train from Barrhaven Town Centre to downtown bypassing the 3 stops in Riverside South, and have every other train start at Woodroffe and run through Riverside South to downtown. If more siddings are added in Barrhaven and Riverside South, a 7.5 minute frequency should be obtainable. This would mean a 15 minute frequency in Riverside South & Barrhaven and a 7.5 minute frequency at Woodroffe station. Double tracking could be done later when necessary.

at what price?
Diesel LRT service to Barrhaven with 15 minute service would cost between
$32M (Fallowfield station) and $42M (416 Park'n'Ride).
How much is your solution?
Can you please provide time-sequence diagrams show where the passing tracks would go, (and at what cost), and how the ridership in Riverside South would be affected by the change from 10 minute service to 15 minute service?
Also, how does the 7.5 minute service interact with the proposed 5 minute service that would occur at Leitrim? Would trains have to sit and wait 2.5 minute for their "slot"?

Re: at what price?
I'm not sure on cost, but a rough estimate could be $60M (from Leitrim). The cost does not include the Strandherd/Armstrong bridge, since it needs to be built anyway.
Passing/double tracks would be located at Woodroffe station, Strandherd/Armstrong bridge, Spratt station, and north of the proposed Leitrim maintenance yard.
The change from a 10 minute frequency to a 15 minute frequency in Riverside South would be compensated by enhancing bus routes in this area. In the future, when proven necessary, the entire line could be double tracked. Around the same time an extension of this line to Cedarview Road (and/or 416) could be considered.
As for the 7.5 minute service interaction with the proposed 5 minute service, simple... either stay single track with passing tracks at selected stations or go double track with a 7.5 minute service (in future increased to 5 minute service once Riverside South/Barrhaven double tracking is proven necessary).

Cost does not matter.
Cost does not matter if you can find the best solution of problem in estimated time, i was thinking to make a comprehensive report on this project but i was busy in my business of business web hosting service along with the ecommerce web hosting service at affordable price and now i am going to start reseller hosting services, which are quite reliable and with some nice packages so people can get benefits, but one thing i must say that your work is really great i like the way you are thinking and will return again as you have done a great job.
